Who doesn’t yearn for a satisfied life infused with contentment and joy? We all know that life has a way of tripping us up and knocking us down many times. However, Christ came that we might have life abundantly. It is great to have eternal life as a believer but there is more. You are living beneath your privileges if you are a believer and not enjoying the abundant life.
Jesus promised in John 10:10 that we could have life and have it in abundance. Some people may think that abundant life means having a well-paying job, a good home or other material things. These may be good to have but in themselves, they do not provide the abundant life that Jesus promised.
How then can we capture the abundant life that Jesus promised and experience life at its best? In John 15:1, Jesus says that He is the True Vine. Then Jesus continues with these words; “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing” – John 15:4-5
For life to be abundant, it must have abundant resources, and the only source of unlimited resources is Jesus Christ the Son of God. To possess this abundant life, a believer must abide in Christ Jesus.
It is only when we regulate our days according to God’s priorities and learn to focus on Jesus that we will begin to realise what Jesus meant by the promise in John 10:10.
My prayer is that you will have and live the type of abundant life that Jesus promised. In Jesus Christ mighty name.
